Knock

Trouble knocked softly at midnight.
I tried to ignore it, the door opened wide, the hinges sighed.
It wasn’t a monster – just a shadow figure with my smile, holding out its hand.
“Come,” it whispered. “We’ll make life interesting.”
I almost refused.
But the silence behind me was heavier than the chaos ahead.
So, I took its hand.
A British/Swiss citizen, Lyndsay Lomax specialises in writing dark comedy and uncanny fiction. Her previous short fiction work has appeared in online publications such as Slippage Lit and Invictus.
